From the beginning of August 2024 we have been active in trying to reveal the Victorian perimeter fencing enclosing the Upper Spinney in the Lower Park which abuts the fishing lake. This has been hidden on the eastern edge over many years by a dense wild area of brambles, nettles and ivy together with fallen trees which have caused extensive damage to the fencing in the area. After almost 12 weeks of activity on two afternoons per week we have completed this eastern section of the Upper Spinney and in the process uncovered many sections of the fencing which have been knocked down by falling trees and branches, some being buried in the soil. We are now conducting surveys of the fencing, trees, waterways, flora and fauna in order to put together a major project for funding.
